India

Delhi State Spatial Data Infrastructure Project (DSSDI), India


Looking at a regional SDI from India, the DDSDI project is an outcome of a pilot project that was started by the Ministry of Science and Technology, India. Consisting of four components, including digital elevation model, system integration, primary data capture and survey and 3D visualization and GIS application, it is one of the most exciting projects coming out of India to be featured in the conference.

SG-SPACE, Singapore


Highlighting Singapore’s move towards a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), this S$12 million dollar project (to be completed over a period of 5 years) was started in April 2008 and aims to create a one stop shop spatial data exchange platform for Singapore government agencies. One of the pilot projects within SG Space, the IMap is expected to roll out early 2010.

This new section under the Utilities Department in JUPEM, Malaysia aims to be a one stop repository of complete GIS solutions for a fast, cost effective and automated production environment for utilities data. The project aims to maintain a National Utility Database and use ArcGIS and Maplex tools to produce large scale Utility Maps.

With the renewed control of the Sri Lankan government in the eastern province, the focus is now on developing the eastern sector and to implement a number of infrastructure projects in the area. The Sri Lankan government aims to identify land suitability for housing projects using GIS technology, a pilot project being completed in the Thoppigala area.
